Systems layer seminar
On the 10th of December, experts and stakeholders gathered for a seminar hosted by SESBC to discuss cutting-edge developments in battery storage and power system resilience. The event took place in Uppsala and was organized by Olof Samuelsson, SESBC's Systems Research Layer Leader, and Urban Lundin.
The participants had the luck of beginning the day with sunshine, fresh snow and a crisp chilly weather while walking to the study visit at Vattenfall's battery storage facility in Uppsala. This visit was a great opportunity to get a firsthand look at the latest innovations in energy storage. Many thanks to Arne Berlin who held a lecture prior to the visit, and to Klas Lekman who guided the tour. The day also included lectures and a posters session of ongoing and new projects.
The seminar continued with presentations on critical topics, including the future technical design of fast-acting ancillary services by Henrik Ekestam from Svenska Kraftnät, and an analysis of critical contingencies and over-frequency management by Daniel Karlsson and Alexander Svensson from DNV. Dan Archer from Checkwatt talked about battery aggregatio. Urban Lundin also held a lecture on ”Hybrid Power Plants, Reasons Behind Them and Experience from Operations”.
